Don't give up...God works!

I've been with Memorial Drive 29 1/2 years. We've enjoyed watching God reverse our course. At one point we were sliding as a congregation into "not much hope for us". Everything about us seemed bleak. A couple of things happened which seemed to turn us around about twelve years ago. Mainly, a hand full of women began to study a new workbook, Experiencing God, by Blackaby and King.

They began to share with the rest of us the idea of getting on board with God where He is working instead of us generating concepts and then petitioning God to endorse our plans. What followed were two bold moves.

He lead us to add a part-time children's minister as we had very few children's classes....there were so few children attending. Too, we added a worship leader who took us to a new level of praise in our assemblies. Today the church is enthusiastic in its participtation in kingdom matters. God has richly blessed.

Share what moves you have seen God do---in your congregation or others---which might cheer others on to hold fast to their confession and, once again, see the church headed in a positive direction.

Good to see you Terry. I'm one of Greg England's (Long Beach) friends from Florida.

I would say for our church going to meeting in Life Groups on Sundays has been "spirit-changing" for our church.

We just got a doctor at the 11th hour, well actually it was past 2, which will allow us to continue our local medical mission.

Welcome to blog land!! It was so good to hear from you!

I did my 1st Experiencing God study about 10 years ago. What a life changing experience. It's amazing what God can do when we join Him in His work, rather than trying to direct it ourselves. We have been at Highland Oaks C of C in Dallas since about January of this year. We love it! Our minister, Tim Spivey, said something a couple of weeks ago that speaks about Highland Oaks and their willingness to meet God where He is. He said that Highland Oaks has 2 traditions... One is the Lord's Supper and the other is Change. You stay true to God's Word, but you allow Him to take you to places you haven't been before.

I've bookmarked your blog. I look forward to reading your next post!

Blessings

Hey Terry,

The Experiencing God study really changed our lives. That study is why I got into local full-time worship ministry.

I had chosen some places where I wanted to work, but God had other plans. After experiencing a serious worship war, the promised land is bright and sweet!

God is awesome.
