WHAT DOES THE HOLY SPIRIT DO?

I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever; that is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not behold Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you, and will be in you...John 14:16-17.

Jesus left earth in order to send His Spirit. Jesus would transition from living in one slender mobile body to a few who became hundreds who became decades and centuries of thousands! He said he would send a Helper. What will a Helper do for us? Get a notebook and write this down.

The Helper will Help us help people.

That's it.

The Helper will come to help us help people. Believers have Help to help others.

Yesterday I was on my way back to the office and I saw a man thumbing a ride and carrying a gasoline can. It was cold out. I turned around and went back for him. He had run out of gasoline, walked to the nearest station and they were out and he was on his way to yet another. I gladly got him back to his truck with the needed fuel.

While were at the light at 11th and Memorial I pointed to the church building with the huge slanted roof. I told him I preach there and if he ever needs to start life over, that's one place to begin. Tony immediately started in: You're a preacher? I was telling my boss yesterday I've got to find a preacher. Man, I turn 44 Saturday and look at me. I've done nothing with my life. It's a bummer, man. Look at me. I've got to do better than this.

I didn't slam on the brakes, run into a light pole, or anything of the sort. I just stayed with him. I told him I knew exactly what he was talking about and I'd be so happy to sit with him when he had time and go over a lot of things I thought would cheer him on. He seemed encouraged just to have had that brief conversation.

I'm telling you everywhere we turn strangers and colleagues are needing help because they don't like who they are or where they are. We can't help by ourselves. But with the Helper, we can be of help....don't you think?

The Wife and I helped out a couple of stranded ladies the other day when their car broke down ... it's just a good feeling. And even if we get ripped off, I tend to think that God will somehow work in that person's life anyway.

Great post! We need to remind each other what Jesus did for us. People are hurting in the world and he can heal them.

Great post brother.
I believe the hold the same view. I think the CoC has put it in a box and has limited it's ablitiy on what it can and can't do.

When I was in the hospital a Nurses Aid ask if he could pray with me. He was not CofC. He placed his hand on my forhead and began to pray and as he begain to pray he was really getting into it. Into the Holy Spirit. As he praise I could feel heat coming from his hands and the left side of my body getting stonger.

About a week later I asked him to pray over me again. He agreed I he placed his hand on my head and prayed for the Holy Spirit to come alive on my, that generation curses be broken, that financial freedom be make on my behalf, he prayed for my ministry, my family, and boys. As he prayed I felt a supernatural warmth coming into my chest. Tear where rolling down my cheeks.

Everything he prayed for came to pass.
I don't think we do it enough in our Churches.
God my we stop neglecting your Holy Spirit and let "true change and revival" take place in our church and communities.

Many times I think we are scared. We are afraid to invite the Holy Spirit in for fear of what me may witness or become or what others may think.
There was a time in my life that I felt the spirit so much you would have thought it was standing on me just to get my attention. It was the absolute, most greatest feeling in the world. I wept uncontrollably afterwards as I knew physically, spiritually, and emotionally what it was like to be in the presence of the holy spirit.
What I would give to have more moments like that.

I love moments of helping others. I often am critized for helping the people on the corners that beg for money. They say the'll work for food, and that's okay. But I've already worked for it, so why not give it away to them? These people deserve so much love regardless of their intentions.

Thank you so much for the reminder Terry! Love you!

That is it in a nutshell. He helps us to help others. So many times we want to but don't have the courage on our own. Wow...we have a helper there, we need to quit ignoring Him and let Him help us.
