WOULD YOU JOIN MY PRAYER TEAM?

One of my boys, Dusty, preaches for the University Church of Christ in Conway. He has good instincts and insight into kingdom possibilities. I enjoy watching his faith develop. Friday he called me with an idea. He said, Dad, I want to talk to you about something right up your alley. He went on to say he believed there is great need for another Saul of Tarsus conversion; one of impossible dimension which would have impact on public awareness. He continued that he had been watching for such a person and has concluded Bill Maher is the guy.

Mr. Maher is an obstinate and obnoxious television personality who just came out with the faith insulting movie called Religulous. I believe Dusty's idea is pregnant with possibility. I met with a group at our church tonight to form the beginning of a prayer team to ask God to overwhelm Bill Maher with love and conviction that he might yield to the love of Christ.

Would you consider forming a group with us? Would you ask your small group, or your church, or a few email friends to begin praying for this conversion? Would you ask them to begin in prayer by thanking God for such a delivery? Would you mind leaving a comment describing your group development that we might each be encouraged a faith step at a time?

This move is not to put Mr. Maher down. He is a worthy man of goodness buried deep within. He is, though, one who would be a tremendous tool for God when his heart is captured by the love of Christ.

May we pray in faith to lead this man to a newness only God can imagine.

Father,
I praise you that Bill was fearfully and wonderfully made by you. I know your love for Him is eternal and cross-centered. God, I ask that Bill will have his heart humbled into holiness; that whatever and however is best for him to meet Jesus, that you will provide the divine appointment. Father, in keeping with Terry and Dusty's heart, I plead that this prayer ministry be a "coming to the kingdom for such a time as this." God, call your lost and rebellious child Bill back to the feast. Thank you for the opportunity of holding your microphone as you call him. In view of the cross and empty tomb, I pray that he will hear and run to you--knowing all the while you are running to him. I pray through the blessed name of Jesus.

I'm in. I've actually already been praying for him.

I went and saw the movie in San Francisco, and it recieved a standing ovation from the crowd during the final credits.

I took notes on the whole experience and will be writing a little on it when I get some time.

Terry,

Your son's comments reminded me of a Saul like conversion story of Joe Eszterhas. He wrote some pretty seedy novels that made it to the big screen. He has repented and his story is pretty amazing. Check it out.

Heavenly Father,
First of all, I am sorry for my own sinfulness along the journey. I also want to say how sorry I am that so many, like Bill, are so disrespectful of You. My heart aches for their (his) lack of understanding. GOD it is only You who can convict Bill's heart. We are willing to pray for seed planters and waterers. Then, we faithfully wait for You to add the increase of a transformed heart - Bill's heart. To You we give Glory and Honor! I pray this prayer because JESUS made it possible. Thank you!

"Dad and Linda"

I don't know what's going on with someone(thing) deleting your comments. I didn't remove them and until you commented for a third time had thought you removed them.

Beats me....but glad to see you back!

Saul of Tarsus conversion. Exactly. I resonate to that and have been struggling with the language to use in my prayers for Bill Maher. Go to prayforbillmaher.com. I have a burden for this.
