IMAGINE WITH US

Yesterday morning I had a strong pull in my spirit, out of the blue, to begin thinking about creating a blog for seekers. I can't describe it, really, but there was an awareness or a sensation going through my mind which made me ponder what possibilities could be in starting an evangelistic blog. I love to dream and off I went on unlimited tangents of imaginational design.

Then, Dusty (My son who preaches in Conway) called yesterday afternoon. He had met with a guy at church who was burdened with an idea he felt needed to be shared with Dusty. His friend has developed a strong interest in Dusty beginning a blog for those who simply are seeking God. In turn, Dusty wanted to know if I'd be interested in doing it with him. Wow, a new blog which would reach to the non-churched! Now, that seems to me something's up!

So we talked....enthusiastically....a lot! I'm in. He's in. His friend is in. We are working on this project.

I was wondering what ideas some of you might have. Concepts? Name of the blog? Ideas? Who knows who's reading this that has fabulous ideas to add to the process as we wade through our own.

A blog for seekers, huh? Very interesting, indeed. Where exactly did you get that idea from again?

How about those Cardinals??

I think that this is a great idea. Maybe you could also incorporate other forms of media such as YouTube into your blog. This would enable you to have a much broader content base and more contributors. God be praised by this effort!!

In order to reach your target, you have to know your target and then relate to them. The longer you are a Christian, the less you hang around non-Christians so you have to "on purpose" start hanging around non believers so you can understand where they are coming from. This should ultimately be the focus of our life and not just a blog but the internet is an effective tool in reaching alot of people.

Aaaah... brilliant minds! ;-)

Sensational! So true that whenever God does an intriguing work (which He certainly has in the blog realm!), it eventually leads us outward!

That's been the concept behind my blog all along, building enough of a readership to turn it into a website devoted specifically to my particular area of ministry (dispelling myths about homosexuality, inviting conversations between Christians and non-Christians about the subject, etc.)

The time I tested the waters & opened up those conversations were simultaneously the most challenging as well as rewarding weeks of blogging.

Seems like this idea is a God thought, b/c I know of several others who have been tossing around ideas about the best way to utilize the net for His glory.

My friend Amy is one example. Here's a link to her idea that she's still praying about:

http://askamy.wordpress.com/ (Read the "about" section)

So, I'll certainly be praying for these efforts for all of you folks!

God is on the move...

Thanks, Angie, for pointing me here today.

Terry, I don't know you but I had the same experience a few weeks ago. I just woke up thinking about it one morning (out of nowhere, I might add), and the thoughts are still brewing.

Maybe God is creating a stir here among our little community.

Kinda neat... blogging about a blog idea.

Years back some friends of mine and I would meet at a local coffee shop and discuss opening a coffee shop.

I don't know where God is taking this, but I want to be where He is.......so count me in!

I have thought about that as I have started thinking through what would be the most effective way to blog and really make a difference.
You could try a title like SeekingSeekers.blogspot.com or SeekingGodSeekers.blogspot.com or something like that.

It would be great to do posts that address issues seekers face and maybe make use of a sidebar that show frequent tags so that people could read through multiple posts related to their questions and experiences.

Integrating Youtube is also a really good idea. Our youth minister and I are thinking about doing more Christian video in the future to add to what is out there. I don't know if blogspot is the best outlet but I will give it one plus - I get so many hits from other countries due to the "next blog" button at the top of the page. I always wonder if anything on my blog clicked when I see someone from China or Peru or even the U.S. got to it through the "next blog" button. Blogger does show up in google very visibly when people search for things in your posts.

I think you could have a great links section with links to other sites that address concerns of seekers. I would just make it all really plain and easy to navigate. God bless with this effort, I think it has some HUGE potential.

One idea I had was to make a blog for an ongoing weekly Bible study for people who work Wednesday night. A lesson would be posted each week and the comments would address discussion questions and promote dialogue between those using it.

God bless

It's amazing how you can just see God's hand at work in this. More people use the internet than almost any other forum. I think it's a great idea! I can't wait to see what God does with this and through each of you as you present it!

How about setting up your sight (I'm not sure how this is done) when a person does a search for porn, hate sites, etc, they find your site?
