NATION OF ANGER. NATION IN DANGER.

I am very concerned about our nation. The threat of simmering unrest is nearing boil. I don't think I'm exaggerating. The political scene is fire-red hot. Debate---bitter, rude, insulting debate---does not reveal information as much as it reveals skill. Millions of dollars are spent for a job which pays thousands. Office workers, church members, and neighbors are divided into camps of strong opinions backed by hard feelings.

Politics is only one front. The Philadelphia Phillies won the World Series last night. Was the danger and damage of rioters found to be in the losing city of Tampa Bay? No, it was found in the city which won! Whether victory or loss, some are filled with such anger they are anxious to find any excuse to create havoc.

Level-headed, quite responsible leaders of all fields are burnt over the shameful and unrepentant scandal of the Wall Street moguls. Congress' volunteer blindness toward both the problem and solution exacerbates the thread-bare nerves of common man. Our nation is in a mess. I believe it to be so big, I couldn't exaggerate it.

Therefore, rely on the Spirit of Christ. Lead your people to Him. Have them hide their wealth by giving it away. Lead them to save their lives by losing them. Teach them that our citizenship is in heaven; not on earth. Train them of the value and truth of the outstretched arms of both the Son on the Cross and of the prodigal's Father back at the family farm. Adorn hearts with the news which is heard louder than Paul Revere's; a Savior is coming! A Savior is coming!

Easy to get off focus personally and nationally. I spoke Wednsday night about Joe The Plumber. When we identify people based upon vocation and kick people back and forth like a political football that will help our team win, we've got a problem. I wonder about Joe The Christian? Joe The Sinner? Joe The Hurting? Joe The Good Neighbor? Joe The Faithful? Respect and personhood are not found in politics or sport--They are grounded in The King of Kings, who chose to identify with us--be we Phillie fans, Democrats, plumbers or preachers. My identity? I am a child of the King!

IS BEING CIVILIZED OUTDATED?

ALMOST ELECTION DAY AND NASTINESS SEEMS TO BE AT BREAK NECK SPEED AND GAINING MOMENTUM BY THE MINUTE...VULGARITY IS PROMINENT...BRUTALLY FRANK IS IN...CIVILIZED TOOK OFF LIKE A TORNADO. I READ LOTS OF BLOGS AND I WONDER, IS THAT HEALTHY OR MAYBE IT'S AN EDUCATIONAL EXERCISE...REALIZING HOW VULGAR/NASTY SOME CAN BE AND PUT IT IN ONLINE FOR WHOEVER WANTS TO CHECK IT OUT. I'VE CHECKED SOME THAT REALLY SADDEN ME...SAD TO THINK OF WHAT COULD HAPPEN TO AMERICA IF THESE BRILLIANT PEOPLE "TOOK OVER". 'SPOSE THEY'D BURY ALL THE ORDINARY PEOPLE REMAINING ON THIS PLANET? I THINK THEY MIGHT. POUR IN THE PROFESSORIAL ELITE, STIR IN THE MEDIA, AND TOP IT OFF WITH THE POLITICIANS WHO ARE OUT FOR THEIR OWN BENEFIT AND OFF WITH THE REST OF THE WORLD. WHAT DO YOU THINK?
I'M NOT TALKING PARTY LINES HERE...I'M TALKING INTEGRITY, HONESTY, PATRIOTISM, GODLINESS...WHERE HAS ALL THAT GONE? IF YOU KNOW, I WISH YOU'D TELL ME. I'D LIKE TO HAVE A BETTER FEELING ABOUT WHERE WE'RE GOING.

I had a call this morning from General Gillispie.

For those that don’t know our General he is a WWII veteran. As an infantryman he was among the young men who fought their way from the Normandy coast, across France pressing back a fierce enemy.

He has seen our nation through many tumultuous times. He too sees our Nation in a mess. General’s request, that we plan to come together Monday evening and pray for God’s grace. In our brief discussion General didn’t mention any man or party, no human measure of “winning,” only that God be respected and honored.

A man who has seen hard battle, who knows firsthand the bloody, ugly, ultimate cost of great military victory; also sees through eyes focused by years of holding children and children’s children… What he sees is satan’s power over people of our nation, engaging them in all forms of self serving debauchery.

His request, that we come together Monday evening, as soldiers, bearing the weapon of David – Faith, in the God of Isaac, Abraham, and Jacob.; the Father who sent His own Son ahead of us into this battle. General asks we join him in prayer for our nation’s forgiveness, guidance and mercy. That we pray for a change in our selfish attitudes, a renew resolve to serve God.
