I am deep into March '07 workshop and am putting intial touches to the '08 one (Garnett is taking a break so Memorial has it for '07/'08/'09...and we are quite pumped!). We are seriously looking at the theme for '08 of "PRAYER: Our Declaration of Dependence"
If you were in my chair would you go with that theme? Do you have other ideas?

When Stoolelover said he admired alliteration I didn't know whether I had or had not alliterated. I exfoliated once and about made myself sick.
Ooops, Theresa, I meant to say Stoogelover instead of Stoolelover! Therefore, did I alliterate or exfoliate....or did I maybe do both?

I love the theme of Prayer! We have tapped into it so little and there is such power there. Great Idea!!

I love it too! There is so much unexplored territory and untapped power in prayer. I think there are so many ways to pray (types of prayers) that are yet to be experienced. Our relationship with God is just like any other relationship, communication is key to keeping the relationship alive! I say go for it!
I'm all for anything on prayer! No matter what you name it:o)
How about a slight variation that makes it sound more like the play on words of the historical document - "PRAYER: Declaration In Dependence." or PRAYER: Our Declaration In Dependence.
Any time we center on God, good things happen! God bless with your planning. You will be in my prayers - now that's practical!
Maybe there could be people praying 24/7 during the workshop = a context of prayer surrounding it.
I like it. Steven Curtis Chapman wrote a song called "Declaration of Dependence." it is one of my favorites. You could invite him...:-)

Dear Terry: I think a workshop on prayer, whatever it is called would be great. In reference to your previous blog on truth in the church, I think that could be a good subject too. Are we ready to say from the pulpit what many of our members already believe and practice. I know at Garnett we really struggle with this. Why do we have to keep going along with what we know is not truth? Why is it so wrong to do things differently? Why are we binding people with these things? Can I be a preacher now? Love ya, Lynn
I love it just the way you said it. It makes it very personal. I think "disciples" might be too much for the younger audience.

But I doubt that Memorial would dare go that far....
