I made up a word....unmentionedables....to fit this day's intent to toss gasoline on heroes among us. Let's assemble a list of a few among us who serve so well, yet never stand with a microphone in their hand or have their picture hanging in the foyer beside an elevator named after them. My three are...ta ta da dat ta da....
JACK MAYNARD....retired television station engineer handles our sound (though he is handicapped with severe hearing loss), constructs our wiring landscape, and produces every sermon on audio and visual. I call him Dr. Maynard because the man is so smart he can fix anything! I love this man!
ETHELEN MAGNUSSON...retired...mother of two kids and a boo-koo of grandkids...and now a greatgrandmother, Ethelen comes through the church doors and beats it for the Teacher's Supply Room where she and partners keep the teaching materials flowing. Ethelen doesn't have the greatest of health, but she has the grandest of heart and attitude. She means very much to me!
JACK GILL....is recovering from surgery and illness right now. He is a humble man somewhere between 42 and 78 years old...just not sure, but I think mid 50s?
This man works in the Day Center for the Homeless, is often seen sitting at the bus stop for this next juncture of travel about town, and is one of the most loved members at Memorial. Jack loves us! He brings such power to the heart of this church. I am better because Jack showed up!
I have tons more "Unmentionedables" to toss into the fire....but for today, this will have to do! It's your turn to talk......

Jason Pope: I have watched him grow with the college group and how much love he has for his friends and the Lord. He works tirelessly to keep our group together and solid and when he grows tired and weary, he gets up again and keeps going. He is an inspiration to watch.
Ellie Miller: She always has a smile and a prayer for me. She amazed me Wednesday when she remembered a request I had from long ago. One I had even forgotten. I was truly amazed that she would remember little ol' me in her prayers daily.
Becky Fulton: This man his made an impression on me a few months ago. He made an effort to remmeber me and I did the same for him. Now each week, we joke about knowing each other and just the smile and hug he has for me each Wednesday night is amazing. He even yells at me from across the parking lot which makes me giggle. He wants to touch lives and I can tell you, he touched my heart and I'm happy he is someone I'm getting to know better.
Okay, this will be hard to limit to just three, but here goes...
Danna Townsdin: A precious sister whose heart's desire is to matter in the Kingdom for HIM. Not so she can receive glory or attention (she would prefer to blend in and go unnoticed!), but so that HE would be noticed instead of her. She works so many hours behind the scene for the workshop and other ministries and never expects credit and in fact would prefer it not be mentioned. She has no idea how much she reflects HIM in her shy smile and gentleness. She does a great job of drawing people to Jesus just by how she does life. She is a consistent and dependable friend and in this day and age of constant business and fast paced life, that’s not an easy thing to do. She lives her life looking for the opportunity to “be Jesus” not just waiting for an opportunity to come to her.
Heather Thornton: She has so many gifts and talents, but again she would prefer to stay in the background and do her Kingdom thing with as little notice and recognition as possible. I admire how she will submit her discomfort at being “an upfront person” to lead a class, sing a song, etc… so that HE can be glorified through her. She does such an incredible job, as one of our church secretaries, of handling all the requests that I’m afraid can come across more like demands from the family. She constantly stops and listens, not just hears, peoples’ requests, concerns, and suggestions when she is not “at work”, but is at church like the rest of us, gathering strength and joy from praise, prayer, and fellowship in order to go back to the world and be Jesus. She gently helps us understand the best way to relay our information to the office without ever discouraging or offending someone.
Sherri Storm: Another super gracious lady who makes Jesus so evident in how she interacts with others. She always has a smile and an encouraging word. I’ve never felt like a stranger around Sherri, even from the first time I met her. She immediately puts you at ease and makes you feel like she has waited all week just for the opportunity to see you! Being a church secretary can make some view their attachment to the family as “their job” rather than their mission, but not with Sherri. She never treats what seems like urgent church business to us, due to our lack of planning, appear as a burden to her. She lovingly handles all the “to-dos” of a church secretary without letting it alter her view of HIS church. She loves us and sees us just as HE does, HIS beautiful bride, and will do anything she can to help us with the details of HIS Kingdom.
I have to mention the always sweet Mary Rush. She has to be one of my favorite people. She always has a hug and a kind word. She is ever encouraging and is relentless in her desire for people to relize that they are truly special. I love you, Mary

I think that any person who does sound in a church is an "unmentionedables". The sound guys have a thankless job. It is not usual to hear someone tell them what a great job they are doing. But when the sound starts shrieking or any other hard on the ears noise, we are always quick to say, what's up with that sound guy. So to all the sound people out there... may God bless you and thank you for all you do!!
Terry, Jack Gill had a grin from ear to ear as I read your comments about him to him. For the record he's 62 and growing young.
